This screenprinted poster was designed to publicly announce the opening of the municipal library in the village of Bafilo, Togo. The text translates to "See further with a book", suggesting that reading enables one to think in new ways.
The face icon has a small scar on each cheek, typical of people in the region, hopefully prompting the viewer to recognize themselves in the image. The posters were put up in various public places throughout the village.
